Safety equipment is one of the most important things in the world of shipping. Safety equipment is an important thing in the event of an emergency, the use and maintenance of safety equipment on board is something that must be considered. The research was carried out during the 12-month marine practice period on the MV. Tanto Bagus. This study uses a qualitative method. Data obtained directly through interviews, and observation as primary data and documentation as secondary data. The author uses data analysis techniques in the form of qualitative, where it is used to analyze data by describing or describing the data collected as they are without intending to make generally accepted conclusions or generalizations..
From the results of the study, it can be concluded that some of the use and maintenance of safety equipment has not been carried out properly. Due to a lack of knowledge and lack of socialization of the ship's crew on the importance of maintaining safety equipment on board. Efforts that need to be made are increasing the knowledge of ship crews by conducting routine socialization and the need for safety meetings and thorough inspections on lifeboats
